As the gathered lace made the seam quite bulky, pressing wasn't going to make it sit flat, and I couldn't top stitch with my machine if I wanted to look at least mostly historically accurate, so I used more prick stitching (like what I was used on the dress neckline) to make the seam sit as flat and neat as possible
